The Spirit of Giving
Let your loved one’s legacy live on through memorial giving
The Providence St. Joseph Hospital family sadly lost two beloved members recently: obstetrician Michael Linzey, MD, and former board member Jim Cora.
Although they served in different ways, both made an impact on the hospital and its community. Their legacies will live on as their families honor them through memorial gifts that will benefit Providence St. Joseph Hospital.
A memorial gift in remembrance of a loved one is a meaningful way to honor their life in lieu of flowers, while supporting the hospital. When a gift is made in memory of someone, Providence St. Joseph notifies their family of the thoughtful gesture.
In addition, families can start their own fundraising pages that include photos, memories and why supporting Providence St. Joseph is important for their loved one’s legacy — just like the Linzey and Cora families. Learn more about memorial giving at sjofoundation.org/ways-to-give.
DR. MICHAEL LINZEY
A man of great faith and integrity, Edward Michael Linzey, MD, came to Providence St. Joseph Hospital in 1977 as an OB/GYN physician. Known for his ability to make each patient feel loved and cared for, he touched many lives during his 40 years at the hospital.
He helped bring close to 20,000 babies into the Providence St. Joseph community, and even inspired a Facebook group called
“Dr. Linzey Delivered My Baby” with over 500 members. He helped establish the LivingWell Clinic, Sweet Success Program for Maternal Diabetes and Maternal Fetal Testing Program in addition to serving as vice chair of the OB/GYN department.
Dr. Linzey will be greatly missed by many as he leaves behind his wife, seven children and 12 grandchildren. If you would like to honor Dr. Linzey, visit sjofoundation.org/drlinzey.
JIM CORA
A longtime member of the Providence St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors, Jim Cora lived a literal fairytale thanks to his long career at Disney. He started in 1957 polishing 3D glasses at the Mickey Mouse Club Theater and retired 43 years later as chairman of Disney International.
Before Disney, Jim served in the Air Force and Army. His passion was evident in all his endeavors throughout his life, and Providence St. Joseph was blessed to have his support for over 20 years.
Jim is survived by his wife and family that loved him as Jimmy, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. To donate in memory of Jim Cora, visit sjofoundation.org/jimcora.
