The Best Inspires Confidence
In 2018, thanks to the generous philanthropic support of the community, St. Joseph Hospital was one of the first three hospitals in the nation to acquire the new leading edge GE Discovery™ MI PET/CT scanner.
In the first twelve months of operation, over 1,820 patient scans were performed, 104 of them for children. Patients appreciate the new scanning room for its aesthetics and comfort features, and the speed of the scanner. And, more importantly, the new technology opens the door to the earliest possible detection of cancer, with reduced radiation exposure.
“The tech prepping me for my PET/CT scan told me that my diagnostic test would be done with the new equipment just received. He said that it was the ‘best of the best’ and made possible by generous donor support. What a huge confidence builder to be in this multi-million dollar machine designed to save lives. … Amazing how donors have generously given, without much fanfare, the necessary funds to ensure that the hospital stays at the forefront of excellent medical care. They are changing lives in ways they can’t imagine, and the impact will continue for years to come. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, I will remain eternally grateful.” — Terrance Reay, St. Joseph Hospital patient
