Congratulations to John Maurice, M.D.
Providence St. Joseph Hospital thoracic surgeon John Maurice, M.D., was one of eight clinicians across the Providence South Division Philanthropy to be recognized with the 2023 Philanthropy Physician Champion Award. As a leader in thoracic surgery for over 20 years, Dr. Maurice has been an essential partner in encouraging philanthropy in addition to advancing patient care.
An incredible surgeon with a philanthropic nature, Dr. Maurice consistently gives his time and treasure to the Providence St. Joseph Hospital Foundation. A frequent keynote speaker at foundation events, his gifts of time, treasure and talent are unmatched. He sits on the foundation’s Physician Engagement Council and previously served as a co-honoree at the 2022 Celebration gala.
Dr. Maurice has helped secure multiple donations by joining private lunches and giving tours for key donors. He eloquently explains the important role philanthropy played in acquiring the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform, which he says was a “game changer” for his patients.
“We are proud to recognize Dr. Maurice,” says Amy Daugherty, chief philanthropy officer. “He’s a compassionate healer and a true philanthropy ambassador with a deep understanding of the positive impact donors can have on health care in our community. His leadership has inspired more physician engagement, creating a stronger culture of philanthropy at Providence St. Joseph.”
