A Culture of Caring
The Sister Frances Dunn Legacy Society was established to recognize and honor those who have made legacy gifts within their estate plans to benefit Providence St. Joseph Hospital. Members of the legacy society include current and former caregivers, grateful patients, physicians and other champions within our community.
The society’s namesake honors Sister Frances Dunn, general superior of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, who is remembered for her versatility as a religious figure and as a health ministry trailblazer. During her tenure, she served as chief administrator of four hospitals, including Providence St. Joseph. She was best known for her leadership in seeking social justice for those in need of health care, housing and fairness for farm workers.
Today, our society members live out Sr. Frances Dunn’s legacy every day. The Foundation honors their commitment with recognition within the hospital and invitations to special events throughout the year. After a two-year absence, the Foundation celebrated the return of the society’s annual luncheon event this past September to honor past and present members committed to impacting the community.
A legacy gift is a meaningful commitment that ensures a bright future for the hospital. The groundwork built by these gifts helps ensure that Providence St. Joseph can continue to offer a level of care that exceeds national benchmarks and restores the health and dignity of our Dear Neighbor.
If you have included the hospital in your estate plans or have questions on how the Foundation can help you establish a legacy at Providence St. Joseph, please contact Christopher Dukes, director of gift planning, at 626-252-1097 or Christopher.Dukes@providence.org.
